We are seeking a highly experienced Senior .NET Trading Systems Engineer(freelance/contract) to become the technical owner of our OMS (Order Management System), Hub API infrastructure, and core trading services.
You will be responsible for architecting, building, maintaining, troubleshooting, and scaling mission-critical systems that directly impact live trading operations, broker connectivity, market data infrastructure, and platform uptime.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who combines deep technical expertise with strong ownership, architectural thinking, and hands-on execution. We are looking for someone who can independently manage complex systems, make sound technical decisions, and provide technical leadership while remaining actively involved in development, troubleshooting, and infrastructure management.
Responsibilities
Trading Systems Ownership & Architecture: * Serve as the technical owner of the Tickblaze OMS, Hub API infrastructure, and related backend services. * Design, maintain, and evolve scalable, high-availability trading systems and services. * Lead architectural decision-making and establish technical standards for assigned systems. * Evaluate and recommend improvements to system design, performance, reliability, and maintainability. * Participate in technical roadmap planning and long-term platform strategy discussions.
Backend Development & System Reliability: * Develop, maintain, and improve backend services using C# and .NET technologies. * Design and maintain REST APIs and service-oriented architectures. * Optimize application performance, scalability, and resource utilization. * Implement fault-tolerant systems and resilient service architectures. * Maintain system stability while supporting ongoing product growth and development.
Infrastructure, Deployment & Observability: * Manage AWS infrastructure and cloud-based services supporting the trading platform. * Maintain Docker-based environments and deployment workflows. * Design and implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability systems. * Improve deployment automation and CI/CD processes. * Develop disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity procedures. * Ensure systems remain highly available and operational under demanding production workloads.
Production Support & Incident Response: * Troubleshoot production issues, outages, and critical incidents. * Perform root-cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions. * Respond quickly to platform-impacting issues affecting traders, brokers, or integrations. * Develop proactive monitoring and alerting systems to identify issues before they impact users. * Maintain operational readiness for systems with strict uptime requirements.
Security & Platform Integrity: * Implement and maintain security best practices across backend systems and infrastructure. * Ensure proper handling and protection of sensitive trading and customer data. * Identify and mitigate operational, infrastructure, and security risks. * Review system designs and implementations to maintain platform integrity and compliance with internal standards.
Team Leadership & Engineering Standards: * Review and approve pull requests and architectural changes. * Mentor developers and provide technical guidance across engineering initiatives. * Establish and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and development processes. * Collaborate closely with QA, Product, and Executive Leadership teams. * Contribute to technical due diligence, vendor evaluations, and partner integrations.
Trading Infrastructure & Integrations: * Support broker, exchange, market data, and third-party platform integrations. * Assist with connectivity initiatives involving trading, execution, and market data providers. * Collaborate on architecture and implementation of real-time trading systems. * Support initiatives related to algorithmic trading, order routing, and execution infrastructure. * Maintain technical documentation for systems, services, and integrations.
Qualifications
Required: * 8+ years of professional software engineering experience. * 5+ years designing, maintaining, and supporting large-scale production systems. * Expert-level C# and ASP.NET experience. * Deep understanding of distributed systems architecture. * Strong AWS infrastructure experience. * Strong Docker experience. * Experience with Redis and high-performance caching systems. * Experience designing REST APIs and service-oriented architectures. * Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation. * Experience supporting systems with strict uptime and reliability requirements. * Experience leading technical design decisions and architectural reviews. * Experience conducting code reviews and enforcing engineering standards. * Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and production support skills. * Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. * High level of ownership, accountability, and proactive decision-making.
