We’re looking for a Legal Counsel with strong expertise in California law to become our primary legal partner across contracts, corporate governance, employment, and compliance.
The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on Legal Counsel who can independently manage the company’s day-to-day legal function.
This is not a narrow specialist role focused on a single legal area. You’ll work across contracts, corporate matters, employment documentation, and compliance, partnering directly with leadership to ensure the business operates efficiently and securely.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys ownership, provides practical legal guidance, and is comfortable acting as an in-house legal advisor for a fast-growing international company.
What You Will DoContract Management
Draft, review, negotiate, and maintain commercial agreements under California law, including:
* Master Service Agreements (MSAs)
* Vendor Agreements
* Client Agreements
* Service Contracts
* NDAs
* Other commercial documents
Ensure contracts protect the company’s interests while supporting efficient business operations.
Corporate Legal Support
Maintain and support the company’s corporate legal structure.
Assist with corporate governance, documentation, and ongoing legal maintenance.
Coordinate legal matters related to business entities and corporate compliance.
Employment & Contractor Documentation
Prepare and maintain legal documentation for employees, independent contractors, and subcontractors.
Ensure compliance with California employment regulations and contractor engagement requirements.
Support leadership with employment-related legal matters as the team grows.
Compliance & Risk Management
Protect the company’s intellectual property through appropriate legal documentation and IP assignment agreements.
Maintain NDA processes and confidentiality standards.
Identify legal risks proactively and recommend practical solutions.
Help ensure the company remains compliant as operations continue to scale.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who combines strong legal expertise with a practical business mindset.
You probably have:
* 3+ years of hands-on experience practicing California law
* strong experience with commercial contracts and corporate legal matters
* solid understanding of California employment law
* experience supporting fast-moving businesses with day-to-day legal operations
* excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills
* ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
* business-oriented approach to legal problem solving
* Fluent English (written and spoken)
Nice to Have
* Experience working with US-based startups or technology companies
* Experience supporting remote and international teams
* Familiarity with creator economy, digital media, SaaS, or service businesses
* Experience managing intellectual property and compliance processes
Success in This Role
During your first months, we expect you to:
